As 2024 draws to a close, we reflect on a year of incredible accomplishments thanks to your continued support. Earlier this year, we proudly honored Xiye Bastida, Mimi Hoang, Eric Bunge, and Ron McCoy at our 2024 CSU Gala. Our Fall Conference series included two important convenings: Carbon-Free Cities: Climate Action in the Built Environment held at UN Headquarters in NY and the Urban Thinkers Campus: Housing Decarbonization Lab held at the Spitzer School of Architecture at City College of New York. These events were made possible by the cross-sector collaboration of many partners, including UN Habitat, Uruguay Permanent Mission to the United Nations, AIANY, World Urban Forum, the Spitzer School of Architecture at City College of New York, with special sponsors Grimshaw & DeSimone Consulting Engineering. We also organized monthly Green Cities webinars providing deep dives into sustainable urbanization initiatives in cities worldwide, provided scholarships to students from the Global South studying sustainable urbanization, provided travel support to two emerging professionals to attend the World Urban Forum in Cairo, Egypt, and organized several events to engage youth in sustainable urbanization discourse, including a side event to the Summit of the Future.
As we look to 2025, we are excited to welcome Mishelle Brito as our new Program Manager. Mishelle’s expertise and commitment to sustainable urban development will help us further our mission and amplify our impact. We are also pleased to welcome Yasemin Kologlu, our incoming President-Elect, whose vision and leadership will guide us through the next phase of growth.
