On Wednesday, December 1, 2021, Ms. Maimunah Mohd Sharif met with CSU President Lance Jay Brown and Chair Aliye P. Çelik to discuss their ongoing relationship and how best the CSU could continue to support the UN New Urban Agenda, the Sustainable Development Goals, and the Executive Director’s vision for a Decade of Action and plans for the World Urban Forum to be held in Katowice, Poland in June 2022.

CSU shared news about its recent programs and publications and heard at length the Executive Director‘s hopes for UN-Habitat. Issues of common concern included UN Habitat’s critical role in achieving a safe and secure urban future in the era following the UN IPPC report, how to increase awareness and active responses to the Habitat III Quito New Urban Agenda initiative, and how to mutually support upcoming events of both UN-Habitat and the CSU in the future.

CSU is thankful the Executive Director, based in Nairobi, took time from her very busy schedule to meet with us while in New York and discuss matters of mutual concern. We look forward to our continued close relationship.
